A 1928 van

1929 Fabric bodied saloon

This car belonged to my grandfather from 1930 to about 1935. He was an engineer working in open cast iron ore mining in Northamptonshire, England and the machine in the picture is one they used at that time. The car had magneto ignition & was used to travel to the various mines operated by the South Durham Steel & Iron company in the Northamptonshire area. It was succeeded by a succession of Fords until he bought an Austin A40 in 1963.

1929 Van

This picture was taken at the Weston park rally organised by the North Herts centre of the 750 Motor Club. Looking through old photographs I was obviously impressed by this van as I also photographed it at the rally at the Austin factory at Longbridge in 1972.
